While Microsoft has been public with Project xCloud and Google’s Stadia is certainly a cause for discussion, Amazon has not made any public moves regarding its rumored cloud gaming service. Today, an exclusive report fromThe New York Timesrevealed that Amazon’s cloud gaming push is called Project Tempo. This project will see users playing games through Twitch, not just streaming them.

Amazon is also looking to release a team-based game called Crucible sometime in May. Crucible was developed by Relentless Studios, the Seattle branch of Amazon Game Studios. Another team at Amazon Game Studios is working on developing an MMObased on The Lord of the Rings.

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, haspreviously describedMicrosoft’s main competition as being with Google and Amazon. With the COVID-19 pandemic causing numerous delays, network strain and shipping issues around the world right now, it’ll be interesting to see how the cloud gaming front continues to evolve.
