Key notes
Microsoft announced the availability of the Windows 10 May 2020 Update in April, through the Windows Insider Program, and that’s how we managed to keep you up to date with all thenew features of Windows 10 version 2004.
Now, it’s time for everybody to get the new Windows 10 May 2020 update.
How can I install Windows 10 May 2020 update?
To ensure you continue to have a reliable, productive experience with your Windows 10 devices, we are taking a measured and phased approach to how we offer the May Update, initially limiting availability to those devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909 who seek the update via Windows Update.
So if you don’t have either the 1903 and 1909installed, you will see the update sooner than the ones who have older versionsinstalled.
To check if you are eligible for an update, go toSettings, then click onUpdate & Securitythen, on the right pane, click on theCheck for updatesbutton under Windows Updates.
If you can see theFeature update to Windows 10, version 2004you will be able to hit theDownloadandinstallbutton under it.
It will take around 20 minutes and it will require a restart to complete. After it downloads, you will be prompted for the restart. You can either do the restart at that point or you can schedule it for a later moment.
If your system is approaching the end-of-life, the update will start automatically so that your computer remains protected and up-to-date with this latest release.
What can I do if I don’t see the update to Windows 10, version 2004?
According to Microsoft in aninstructional video, you either have an older version than 1903 and you will have to wait for them to unlock the update for you or your computer has some compatibility issues with the new update.
You can also try to update to Windows 10 version 2004 by using theUpdate Assistant from the Microsoft page.
