Windows Phone8has just been launched and it has managed to make quite a good impression thanks to many positivereviews. But, just as with theWindows 8andlike we previously mentioned, you can’t do too much if you don’t have enough applications in theWindows Store. In order to compete with other serious companies in the mobile field, one needs to appeal todevelopersso they could start making moreapps.
In order to create more applications for theWindows Phone8 ecosystem, Microsft has come up with pretty useful advices, tools and tips fordevelopers. Just like withWindows 8, there are plenty of resources for programmers to start working on applications forWindows Phone8. But probably the most important instrument isWindows Phone8 SDK. And Microsoft has just announced that is ready for download.

At the Build developer conference, on Day 1, Microsoft has announced that thesoftware development kitforWindows Phone8 has been made ready for download. The Redmond company has a tough job trying to catch up with iOS and Android who seem to share the supremacy in the mobile market. Many have been criticising Microsoft for delaying this update, but Ballmer and Company has always defended saying that they were still working on crucial features.
Here’s whatWindows Phone8 analyst Donnie Berkholz thinks about this:
Windows Phone8now provides an end-user experience on par with iOS and Android. The public release of thedeveloperSDKfinally makes it possible to nail a critical component of mobile adoption, the broaderappecosystem. Unfortunately theSDKwasn’t released in advance ofWindows Phone8 sodeveloperscould haveappsavailable at the release, which will hurt bothdevelopersand Microsoft because of the importance first impressions have to consumers. Given Microsoft’s near-legendary tenacity and its clear understanding of the importance ofmobile devices, I expect they’ll continue pursuing this until they get it right — if not forWindows Phone8, for the next release.
2018 update: Windows 8 Phone SDK has not released any official information about further support. We have searched all over the internet, and all we found recently is that SDK is no longer supported on some phones as the following error appears:
Apparently, there is no solution for this error, and Microsoft developers have not said anything on official forums. IN case you arrived to fix this error, share this information with us so we can update this article and help other users.
From a critic point of view, releasing theWindows Phone8SDKjust now is a very, very bad move. I mean, does Microsoft wantdevelopersto start makingappsjust now? Wouldn’t it been a much better idea to release it at least 3 months, or 1 month ago, so thatdeveloperscould have enough time to populate the Windows Store withapps? But let’s hope that things will change.

Radu Tyrsina has been a Windows fan ever since he got his first PC, a Pentium III (a monster at that time).
For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
