Firefox Reality launches on HoloLens 2 and in the Microsoft Store

Mozilla announced today that its Firefox Reality browser is now available for Microsoft’s HoloLens 2. The browser, which launched in 2018, was created to bring a new web browsing experience to virtual reality. Now, that’s expanding to augmented reality (AR) with Firefox Reality’s launch on HoloLens 2.

“This release highlights several early demos which are built on standard Babylon.js and three.js libraries,” Mozilla said in ablog postannouncing the launch. “That means the same pages can be loaded in AR or VR headsets, or in a 2D desktop browser, without requiring the developer to create a custom experience for each platform.”

Microsoft has pushed to make HoloLens a platform focused on giving people choices, and this collaboration with Mozilla signals that extends to browsers as well. This is also the first public release of Firefox Reality in the Microsoft store.
