HP has unveiled its new OMEN desktops for 2020, providing a streamlined, high-performance successor tothe existing Obelisk PC tower range. The refreshed line under its OMEN gaming label comes split across two chassis sizes, the OMEN 25L and 30 L Desktop, injected with the latest from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA. With the target of gamers pursuing a blend of configurability and ease of use, HP positions its latest desktop revision as its “most customizable gaming PC” to date.

The new era for HP’s gaming-focused lineup starts with its modernized brand identity, ditching the “tribal mask” for a new rhombus-shaped logo, backlit front-and-center on the casing. The surrounding casing matches that philosophy, embracing streamlined brushed metal paneling and sparse RGB lighting, with the option of the glass as the range progresses.

HP reworked the internals, adopting Intel’s 10th Gen Core i+ CPUs or AMD’s 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs. It also sees backing of the GeForce GTX 1650 through the RTX 2080 Super, or the Radeon RX 5500 through the RX 5700X for team red.

For RAM, HP once again partners with HyperX, leveraging FURY DDR4-2666 modules up to 16GB for higher-end setups. It also expands third-party partnerships to Western Digital, with a custom spin on its WD Black solid-state drives up to 2TB, and enlisting aid from Cooler Master for cooling and power. The new open design also comes with thermal gains, adding a front-facing fan, a four-times increase in feet height, and raising the GPU to keep things breezy.

Like the former Obelisk line, HP positions the OMEN desktop family customizability at the core, straddling the line between pre-configured solutions and the PC building scene. While fast out of the box, HP provides tool-free access to hardware, with the use of standardized parts allowing for easy upgrades in time.

The new OMEN desktop range drops on May 5, 2020, ranging from $900 to $2000.
