Windows 10 users usually rely on the Tips andGet Startedapps to provide furthe guidance for getting around the OS and configuring its settings.
However, a new video leaked by a reliable tipster highlights that’s about to change with the addition of Follow Me to Cortana. Although nothing has been officially announced, the video highlights how guided audio navigation may become a new feature for Windows 10.
Cortana is thevirtual assistantincluded with Windows 10 and Microsoft has enhanced that app in previous updates. Follow Me could be the next new Cortana feature, providing audio and visual prompts to guide a user on how to configure various settings in Windows.
They would be something likescreencast tutorialsfor Windows, except that you don’t need to open any videos to launch them.
Follow Me improves guided navigation on Windows 10
The YouTube video includes one example of the Follow Me guided navigation. In it, Cortana provides details for how you can connect a Bluetooth device with Windows 10 via the Settings app.Follow Me guided navigation includes a blue circle and red rectangles to highlight the cursor and other options.
Cortana’s Follow Me is comparable to Guided Help in that it appeared in pre-release builds of Windows Vista. Vista’s Guided Help option also had aShow me step-by-stepoption that showed users where to click. It looks like Microsoft is resurrecting Guided Help in Windows 10 with Follow Me.
When Microsoft will add Follow Me to Windows 10 is somewhat unclear. TheWindows 10 Fall Creators Updaterolling out this October probably isn’t going to include any last-minute surprises. However, Follow Me could be a part of a spring 2018 update.
Cortana’s Follow Me could be a great new addition to the virtual assistant’s repertoire. Cortana is becoming an ever more essential part of Windows 10, and with Follow Me the app will provide invaluable guided navigation for new users.
