Key notes
If you thought Microsoft was done with adding new features to Windows 11, you were wrong. In an announcement made recently, Microsoft is teaming up with Qualcomm to bring native support for Wi-Fi Dual Station to Windows 11 that is set to deliver low latency in gaming.
The DBS feature is exclusive toFastConnectmobile connectivity and has the capability of harnessing multiple bands and antennas that deliver low latency in gaming. By simultaneously utilizing the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, the OEMs will deliver high-speed and reliable connections and solve the latency issues experienced in gaming.
Windows 11 supported
Since game developers and publishers will have it easier to deliver low latency experiences, the feature will only work with devices upgraded to Windows 11 and support the Qualcomm FastConnect systems.
Companies such as Dota 2 and Global Offensive are among those set to benefit from utilizing the Steamworks SDK for networking and improved responsiveness.
The gaming department is set to benefit from Microsoft’s features such asAutoHDR and DirectStorage.
Beyond gaming benefits
Players will definitely experience a better connection and experience wire-class responsiveness. Another advantage is that this technology is expected to meet the growing needs of the enterprise PC industry such as two-way data traffic such as remote management tools, video calls, and collaborations.
To deliver high-quality connectivity solutions, Qualcomm is in collaboration with Acer, AMD, and others. Acer has already produced gaming notebooks that feature the FastConnect 6900 connectivity that provide Ethernet-grade Wi-Fi.
Overall, the technology is supposed to decrease the overdependence on wires both for charging and connectivity.
