Pivot in plain sight?
The Nothing Phone 2 looks as though it’ll have more in common with thebest smartphonesout there, compared to its predecessor, including a larger screen, higher-quality camera sensors (that we’ve seen on phones like the OnePlus 11 already), and more.
The company’s first outing made a concerted effort to be a little more unique, with the Nothing Phone 1 being a relatively compact 6.55-inch device, relying on a mid-class SoC – the Snapdragon 778G, that led with a head-turning design and user experience. Though it isn’t as powerful as theSnapdragon 8 Gen 2that powers most of thebest Android phones, the Phone 2’s 8 Plus Gen 1 will certainly close the gap.

“[The] Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is a proven processor. It has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimised through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago. We prioritise user experience over being first in the specs race,“Nothing CEO Carl Pei said in an interview with Forbes. “Also, the latest technology comes at a cost which isn’t always justified from a user benefit standpoint. Choosing Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 ensures that Phone 2 remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone 1.”
