Microsoft started releasingWindows 10 v 2004on May 27, 2020. While a lot of users expected todownloadand install the newOSright away, some haven’t managed to do that to date.
A broad range of issues, such as hardware/driver incompatibility, caused Microsoft to place affected PCs on acompatibility block. As you might imagine, that means these PCs couldn’t update to Windows 10 version 2004 until the underlying problems were resolved.
Such is the situation now for some users that have unsuccessfully tried installing the May 2020 Update. This time around, they’re getting an error message along the lines of incompatible PC settings.
Inability to get Windows 10 v2004 due to PC settings issue
It appears that Microsoft recently put some PCs on a Windows 10 version 2004 upgrade block due to a PC settings problem. Therefore, affected users can’t update to the latest version of the WindowsOSin the meantime.
In response, the users headed on over to the Microsoft answers forum to express their frustration with theOSupdate block.
One of them wondered why they’re unable to upgrade to Windows 10 v2004 despite having some high-end processing and graphics hardware on their PC. They’re getting thiserror messageinstead:
This PC can’t be upgraded to Windows 10. Your PC settings aren’t supported yet on this version of Windows 10. Microsoft is working to support your settings soon. No action is needed. Windows Update will offer this version of Windows 10 automatically when these settings are supported.
It seems that you can’t do anything about the PC settings issue yet.
