Microsoft released a newWindows 7update to the general public.

Update KB4457139is actually a preview of the upcoming monthly rollupupdateand allows users to test the upcoming fixes and improvements in advance.

Before hitting theupdatebutton, you should know that thispatchmay break your interface controller, as Microsoft warns:

After you apply thisupdate, the network interface controller may stop working on some client software configurations. This occurs because of an issue related to a missing file, oem.inf. The exact problematic configurations are currently unknown.

In order to fix this problem, you need to launch the Device Manager and automatically rediscover the NIC and install drivers. Go to the Action menu and select Scan for Hardware Changes.

You can also install the drivers for the network device by right-clicking on the respective device and choosingUpdate.
