To be able to search from desktop in Windows or Windows 8.1, you will need to download either Google or Bing. But now I’ve discovered that a fresh update makes it available for download via Windows Update.I have turned off automatic updates in the Windows Store and Windows Update so that I could be notified of what exactly has been made new or changed by Microsoft. So, if you too are doing the same thing, then there’s a chance that you have noticed what I did – that Microsoft has made the Bing Desktop tool available for download as a Windows 8.1 updated.
Online searches straight from the desktop
As you can see above image, I’ve installed Bing Desktop v 1.3.1 on today’s date and the update was an optional one. It’s a clever way for Microsoft topromote its search engine. By usingBing Desktop in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, you can search Bing straight from the desktop, without having to open a browsers to do it. Of course, the results will appear in a new browser page.
