Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, the third major Windows 10 update, is finally here. Withinitial reactions divided, we can expect that trend to hold until some major issues are patched. This includes Windows 7 users who, after trying to upgrade, have experienced problems getting the latest version on their device. Some of these users reported various upgrade problems with both Windows Media Creation Tool and Update Assistant, respectively.
Namely, they weren’t able to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 after multiple tries. These are some reports users made onWindows support forum’s dedicated thread:
”Rebooting did nothing. Windows 7 started as usual. When I clicked on the Windows 10 Installing… icon it started over from the beginning with preparing to download. I let it run overnight and it again stopped at 99%.”
”Same issue, several retries, several hours each attempt. I am aware the media creation tool exists, but Microsoft’s webpage once mentioned that you needed to use your Windows’ UPGRADE option to avoid being left with an unactivated copy. Has this changed?I do NOT want to end up with a semi-pirated copy AT ALL.”
Now, there are multiple reasons for this error to occur, starting from hardware incompatibility to update server issues or even license problems. There are some things users can do in regard to this, but, the best advice we can offer is to simply wait for a couple of days until everything settles down.
In case you’ve experienced difficulties with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update upgrade, try using the steps listed below:
Upgrade issues aren’t a novelty for Microsoft, but they’ll eventually address the problems at hand as they did after the previous release. Of course, we’ll make sure to provide you with any new information as soon as possible.
